Terms of Service — MANDRAGORA

Version 1.0 — Effective date: January 1, 2026

1. Purpose

MANDRAGORA is a collaborative data-sharing platform on plant-animal interactions, intended for zoological institutions, botanical gardens, research centres and universities. These Terms of Service govern access to and use of the platform.

2. Important Disclaimer — Toxicity Data

The information on MANDRAGORA, including data relating to plant toxicity for animals, is provided FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY and does not constitute veterinary, medical or definitive scientific advice under any circumstances.

  • Toxicity data is derived from field observations, grey literature and scientific articles. It may be incomplete, inaccurate or inapplicable to your specific context.
  • Any decision regarding animal feeding, enrichment or exposure to plants must be made in consultation with a qualified veterinarian.
  • MANDRAGORA, its contributors, partner institutions and developers disclaim all liability for any damage resulting from the use of information published on the platform.
  • The confidence score displayed reflects the level of consensus among institutions but does not guarantee the absolute accuracy of the information.

3. Registration and Access

Registration is open to everyone. By default, new users are assigned the "Reader" role (read-only access). To contribute (create interactions, vote, participate in discussions), the user must be a member of a validated institution and be assigned a contributor role by their institution's administrator.

4. Contributions and Intellectual Property

By contributing data to MANDRAGORA, you grant the consortium a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use, reproduce and display your contributions within the scope of the platform. You retain ownership of your original contributions. Aggregated data and the trust scoring system are the property of the MANDRAGORA consortium.

5. Personal Data Protection

In accordance with the GDPR, your personal data is processed transparently. Please consult our privacy policy for more details. You have the right to access, rectify, delete and port your data.

6. Moderation

Platform administrators reserve the right to moderate, hide or remove any content deemed inappropriate, manifestly inaccurate or contrary to the values of the consortium. Reported contributions are reviewed by the moderation team.

7. Limitation of Liability

MANDRAGORA is provided "as is". The consortium does not guarantee uninterrupted availability of the platform or absolute accuracy of the data. Under no circumstances shall the consortium be held liable for any direct or indirect damage resulting from the use of the platform.

8. Amendments to the Terms

The consortium reserves the right to amend these Terms of Service. Users will be notified of any substantial changes. The current version is identified by its version number and effective date.
